Our Candidates
Are you satisfied that your local county legislator is properly representing your interests and those of people like you? Does your representative regularly seek your input on key issues and let you know where they stand? Do you feel that he or she is playing an active role in making Albany a better place to live, work and raise a family?
If you answered “no,” to any of these questions then it’s time for a change. Throughout New York, voters in recent elections have sent a message that they are fed up with the status quo and want better results from our elected officials. If you have been considering a run for public office, now is the perfect time to act.
The City of Albany Republican Committee is working to improve our community by seeking candidates with fresh ideas, a desire to achieve real results for families, and a commitment to restoring openness and accountability in county government.
Some ideal candidate attributes include: integrity; consistency; confidence; an openness to the concerns and ideas of others; strong communication and team-building skills; and a general understanding of municipal issues.
There are countless reasons why people choose to run for public office. Some want to fight for lower taxes, others for better schools or safer streets. No matter what your motivation, holding elected office presents you with the opportunity to make important contributions toward shaping the future of our community. For this reason, running for office can be one of the most rewarding experiences in your life.
